New Haven, Connecticut’s Shubert Theater is celebrating one hundred years. It opened on De cember 11th, in 1914. In the 1950′s and 60′s major stars were gracing the stage in musicals one after another, Katharine Hepburn, Henry Fonda, Julie Andrews and Humphrey Bogart and on and on
Renovations are under way at the theater as it gets ready for it’s grand celebration close up. In phase two of it’s new look will be a theater within a theater, a 100 seat or so black box space to do smaller shows, caberet and music. Executive Director, John Fisher, talks about the rich history of the Shubert and were it’s headed in the future.
