I never got to interview Frank Sinatra, but I did get to spend a couple of hours with “The Most Trusted Man in America,” the late, Walter Cronkite in 2000. It was just me and Cronkite on the stage at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut talking about his extraordinary life.
This series on Sinatra was put together in 1965 and reported by Cronkite along with his successor, Dan Rather. I came upon this on You Tube and didn’t want it to get away from me, or you, so I put it here forever on my website.
Sinatra, the kid from Hoboken, New Jersey that became a mega-watt star. You still hear Sinatra crooning everyday somewhere when you’re out and about, there will never be another Frank Sinatra.
I know he passed through Connecticut many times, in his life. One of his friends knew what a huge Sinatra fan I was and asked him to sign a photograph which he did and it hangs in my home. When you push the lower left had corner of the frame it plays “My Way.” Fun, right?

Fairfield, Connecticut’s, John Mayer, a huge star himself, did one of Sinatra’s songs on Thanksgiving night of 2008 on The David Letterman Show. It’s one of my favorites, “In The Wee Small Hours of The Morning.” By the way, that’s when I wrote this post, in the wee small hours of the morning.
